CFS Board of Directors Policy Regarding Non-Licensed Surveyors and Other Professionals
It is the policy of the Certified Floodplain Surveyors Board of the National Society of Professional Surveyors that:
The Certified Floodplain Surveyor Certification is only to be given to Professional Surveyors that have successfully completed the National Society of Professional Surveyors Certified Floodplain Surveyor Course and passed the exam given for the course.
A Survey Technician, Surveyor in Training or a student pursuing a two year or four year survey degree may take the course and test. If they successfully pass the course and exam, they will be given a Certificate of Completion and when they become a Professional Land Surveyor, they can request that they be given the Certified Floodplain Surveyor Certificate. In order to meet this requirement, they will need to complete any and all update courses given at two year intervals beginning from the time they successfully completed the course.
Others interested parties (Professional Engineers, Floodplain Managers, etc.) may audit the Certified Floodplain Surveyor Course with no test given. If they successfully attend all components of the course they will be given a Certificate of Audit for the course.
